‘Khelo India Samvad’ Discusses the Importance of Sports; Live Telecast of Prime Minister’s Address Held at BBAU

Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University organized the ‘Khelo India Samvad’ programme on August 27. The programme was chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal. Former international hockey player of India, Mr. Praveen Singh, and 15-year-old hockey player Priya Singh from Gorakhpur were present as the chief guests. IQAC Director Prof. Shilpi Verma, Prof. Naveen Kumar Arora, Prof. Pawan Kumar Chaurasia and Dr. Manoj Kumar Dadwal were also prominently present. During the programme, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor presented bouquets to the guests as a gesture of gratitude.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar Mittal said that sports play an important role in developing discipline, leadership, team spirit, self-confidence and a sense of healthy competition in our lives. He stated that initiatives such as ‘Khelo India’ have provided the youth of the country with a strong platform to engage in sports and showcase their talent at the national and international levels. Through ‘Khelo India Samvad’, positive dialogue is being promoted on the importance of sports, development of a sporting culture and encouragement of sporting talent among the youth. Prof. Mittal emphasized that there is a need for students to make sports an integral part of their lives along with education, as a healthy body and a healthy mind are the foundation for building a strong, disciplined and self-reliant nation.

As part of the programme, the University also organized the live telecast of ‘Khelo India Samvad – Khel Ki Baat, Pradhanmantri Ke Saath’, during which Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed youth and sportspersons across the country through video conferencing. The Prime Minister encouraged the youth to participate in sports and stated that sports are not merely a means of winning medals but also play an important role in personality development, discipline, self-confidence and nation-building. He called upon the youth to make sports a part of their daily lives and contribute towards making India a strong sporting nation. Students and participants present at the University watched the live telecast of the Prime Minister’s address and were inspired by his motivating words on sports.

On the occasion, Mr. Praveen Singh and Priya Singh sensitized the students about the importance of sports and said that sports bring new energy and positivity into life. They appealed to the youth to take up at least one sport according to their interests and participate regularly in sporting activities. They said that through sports, young people can recognize their abilities while developing self-confidence, patience and the ability to face challenging situations. They urged everyone to make sports a part of their lives in the spirit of ‘Khelo India’ and take steps towards a healthy lifestyle.

Various teaching and non-teaching staff members, research scholars, sportspersons and students were present during the programme.
